Subject: TCH – Release of a New Version of the Manure Management Planner (MMP) Software for CNMP Planning


 
Purpose.  To notify States of the release of the MMP, version 4.0.3.
 
Expiration Date.  December 30, 2022
 
Background.  NRCS maintains the MMP as its official nutrient management planning tool to develop Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMPs). This new version of MMP provides some critical updates such as Connecticut and Idaho Phosphorus and Potassium (P and K) application logic and the new version of Rusle2.dll for the proper calculation of crop interval soil loss values.
 
Explanation.  On 06/01/2022, the new version of MMP became be available for download by Technical Service Providers, soil and water conservation district employees, and other private consultants and landowners from the www.MyFarms.com website. NRCS employees will be able to download this new version from the Software Center after it clears common computing environment (CCE) certification.

A summary of the updates available in version 4.0.3 are:

  • Connecticut and Idaho - Updated the P and K application logic and crop removal rates
  • Delaware - Added support for 190 new crops, updated the N (Nitrogen), P, and K application logic, and updated crop removal rates
  • Michigan - Aligned N, P, and K application logic and crop removal rates with the 2020 Tri-State Fertilizer Recommendations
  • Ohio - Implemented new P-Index logic.
  • West Virginia - Updated the manure production rates, crop list, P and K application logic (by crop), and soil productivity levels.
  • Soil Info - The Soil Survey Geographic Database soil type data was updated in MMP on 11/3/2021, to include the latest version released by NRCS on 10/15/2021. This update can be observed by clicking "fields" then "soil info" and reading the "soil file rev" date in the upper right corner.

Distribution.   This directive is available at the NRCS eDirectives Electronic Directives System website https://directives.sc.egov.usda.gov/.

Filing Instructions.  Due to printing and distribution costs, the availability of this information is limited to an electronic format (with limited paper distribution). If a paper copy is retained, file it sequentially within General Manual Title 450, Technology.
