Purpose.  To announce the availability of Title 190, Part 646, Rangeland Hydrology and Soil Erosion Processes Handbook, and Part 647, The RHEM Guide, and 4 RHEM Guide Sheets. 

 

Expiration Date.  September 30, 2022

 

Background.  Soil loss rates on rangelands are considered one of the few quantitative indicators for assessing soil quality, rangeland health, and conservation practice effectiveness.

 

Explanation.  The ARS/NRCS Handbooks and Guide Sheets teach NRCS employees the causes and consequences of soil erosion on rangelands and how to design management plans to prevent or correct issues of concern on rangelands at scales ranging from hillslopes to watersheds.
