NB 450-21-5 TCH – Request to Identify & Prioritize CY 2022 Webinar Topics for the Science and Technology Deputy Area
National Bulletin: 450-21-5 Date: July 9, 2021
Subject: TCH – Request to Identify & Prioritize CY 2022 Webinar Topics for the Science and Technology Deputy Area

Action Requested By:   August 10, 2021

Purpose.   To provide the states a voluntary opportunity to identify and prioritize webinar topics for the Science and Technology (S&T) deputy area’s calendar year (CY) 2022 conservation webinars presentation schedule.

Expiration Date.   September 30, 2021

Background.   S&T presents conservation webinars to meet training needs identified and prioritized by the states. In 2022, S&T will continue to work from its national strategy, updated in 2017, to deliver webinars. Topics for webinars are derived from submissions from NRCS personnel in the states and from NRCS S&T specialists. To fill the state schedule, states are canvassed annually to request desired webinar topics and then later to vote on the topics that are most needed by the states.

Explanation.   NRCS state resource conservationists (SRCs), state conservation engineers (SCEs), and state soil scientists (SSS) coordinate the identification and voluntary submission of up to five webinar topics per state using the S&T 2022 webinar topics submission form (2022 Webinar Topic Submissions - All Items (sharepoint.com). For 2022, we are focusing on Climate Smart Farming and Agricultural Innovation; however, we will also consider other topics related to the Soil, Water, Animals, Plants, Air + Human & Energy resource concerns or the Field Office Technical Guide, conservation practice standards, and conservation planning (i.e., those areas for which the S&T deputy area is the lead). Submitted topics are technical or technology transfer oriented to train and prepare staff to assist landowners and managers. Requested topics are to be submitted by August 10, 2021.  States will complete the topic submission form by documenting the following for each topic:

•  Webinar Topic (open text)
•  Description of training objectives and outcomes (open text)
•  Primary category (choice list provided)
•  Secondary category (choice list provided)
•  Strategic plan (choice list provided)
•  Suggested presenter (open text)

States will prioritize a consolidated list of webinar topics for the final S&T conservation webinars presentation schedule using the “Your Vote Counts:  S&T 2021 Webinar Topics” form on the SharePoint between August 11 – 20, 2021 (Your Vote Counts 2022).
