Purpose.  To solicit nominations for the National Rangeland Conservationist of the Year, National Pastureland Conservationist of the Year, and the Early Career Rangeland/Pastureland Conservationist Awards.      
 
Expiration Date.  September 30, 2021   
 
Background.  Each year, NRCS recognizes an employee’s accomplishments in both rangeland management and pastureland management, and the accomplishments of outstanding rangeland and pastureland conservationists early in their career. These awards will be presented to the selected employees at the Society for Range Management or the American Forage and Grassland Council annual meetings as appropriate.         
 

Explanation.  Through the 31st annual Rangeland Conservationist of the Year Award and the 24th annual Pastureland Conservationist of the Year Award, NRCS recognizes two conservationists who exhibit superior accomplishments in rangeland or pastureland conservation. Through the sixth annual Early Career Rangeland/Pastureland Conservationist Award, NRCS will recognize an employee who has not completed their 10th year of Federal service and has shown exemplary service to NRCS and grazing lands.

Guidelines for submitting nominations for these awards, along with other information, are attached. Those wishing to submit nominations must do so no later than Friday, August 27, 2021. Send nominations to the National Grazing Discipline Lead, Tom Hilken, with one of the following subject lines: “Pasture COTY Award Nomination”, “Range COTY Award Nomination”, or “Early Career Award Nomination”.

Please include only nominations in the email. Send questions about the award or correspondence regarding other subject matters under a different subject line and in a separate email.
