Action Requested By:   October 23, 2020

Purpose.   To solicit nominations for the Olin Sims Conservation Leadership Award.

Expiration Date.   February 28, 2021

Background.   On December 7, 2007, the conservation partnership lost a friend and outstanding leader in Olin Sims, President of the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD). Mr. Sims was a rancher from McFadden, Wyoming, and distinguished himself through years of volunteer service to conservation at the State and national levels.

In tribute to Mr. Sims’s memory, and to promote and recognize outstanding conservation leadership at the State and local levels, or both, NRCS and NACD established the Olin Sims Conservation Leadership Award. The award will be presented to an up-and-coming leader who demonstrates excellence in promoting and leading voluntary conservation on private lands. The award winner will be recognized at the NACD Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 8, 2021.
