Purpose.   To request nominations of NRCS engineers for the 2020 NRCS Engineer of the Year Award.   
Expiration Date.   December 31, 2019  
Background.   The Conservation Engineering Division (CED) convenes a panel annually to select the NRCS Engineer of the Year. Selection as NRCS Engineer of Year highlights the professionalism and dedication to public service of NRCS engineers and their important contribution to the NRCS mission. Selection is a significant honor for the engineer and the State, area, or center in which they serve. The NRCS Engineer of the Year is also submitted as a nominee for the Federal Engineer of the Year Award (FEYA) and competes with those from other Federal agencies for the national FEYA award.

The Professional Engineers in Government (PEG), an Interest Group the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), sponsors the FEYA, which recognizes Federal engineers for their engineering achievements, continuing education, professional and technical society activities, other awards and honors, and civic and humanitarian activities.
Explanation.   Please nominate an engineer within your span of supervision for this award. Use the attached 2020 Federal Engineering of the Year Award Application form to complete the application. Return it by email by Friday, October 11, 2019, to claudia.hoeft@usda.gov. The NRCS Engineer of the Year and supervisor will attend the FEYA Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Friday, February 14, 2020, at the National Press Club.
